ChopPicker ("we", "us", or "our") is a food suggestion application designed to help users in Nigeria decide what to eat. Our app is available on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use ChopPicker. The parent company behind ChopPicker is Viqe Systems Ltd.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to make ChopPicker work well for you:

• Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google.
• Food preferences: Foods you swipe, save to favourites, and view in detail.
• Mood filters: Which moods you select (e.g., "I'm broke", "Healthy-ish") to personalise your feed.
• Search queries: What you search for within the app.
• Device information: Device model, operating system, and a unique device identifier for session management.
• Usage analytics: Aggregated, anonymised data about how you use the app (screen views, feature usage).

We do not collect: location data, contacts, camera access, payment information, or any data beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Personalise your food suggestions based on your swipes and preferences
• Maintain your favourites list across devices
• Improve the accuracy of AI-generated food recommendations
• Detect and prevent abuse or fraud
• Send push notifications (only if you opt in)
• Respond to your support requests

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

4. AI-Generated Content

ChopPicker uses artificial intelligence to generate food descriptions, suggest dishes, and create food imagery. This means:

• Food descriptions are AI-generated and may contain inaccuracies
• Food images may be AI-generated and may not represent actual dishes
• Calorie information is estimated and should not be used for medical decisions
• Suggestions are for inspiration — they are not professional nutritional or dietary advice

5. Data Sharing

We share your data only in these limited circumstances:

• Google Sign-In: We use Google's authentication service. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of your sign-in data.
• Infrastructure providers: We use cloud hosting services to operate the app. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Website Measurement

We use Google tag on the ChopPicker website to measure limited website interactions, such as when visitors click our App Store or Google Play download buttons. This helps us understand interest in ChopPicker and improve the website experience.

This website measurement may collect basic technical and usage information, such as page information, browser or device details, and button interaction events. We do not use this website tracking to identify individual visitors personally.

7. Push Notifications

ChopPicker may send push notifications to your device to suggest new food picks or remind you to explore the app. You can opt out of push notifications at any time in your device settings. We will never send promotional notifications from third parties.

8. Data Retention

ChopPicker retains your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will delete or anonymise the personal data associated with your ChopPicker account within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, fraud prevention, or operational reasons.

Examples of data we may retain for a limited period after a deletion request include server logs, backup snapshots, abuse-prevention records, and records we are required to keep by law. Backup data may remain in secure systems for up to 30 additional days before it is overwritten. Aggregated or anonymised analytics that can no longer identify you may be retained longer.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for push notifications at any time

To request deletion of your ChopPicker data, email [email protected] from the email address linked to your account, or include enough information for us to identify your account or device. In your message, say that you want your ChopPicker account and personal data deleted.

When we process a valid deletion request, we will delete your account information, profile data, favourites, saved preferences, behaviour history tied to you, and associated push token records that identify your device. Data that has already been anonymised will no longer be linked to you. Limited records may be retained temporarily where necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or backup recovery, as described in the Data Retention section above.

10. Children's Privacy

ChopPicker is intended for use by individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of ChopPicker after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
